Course Overview
Located just 15 minutes from Charlottetown, Stanhope Golf & Country Club overlooks the cliffs of Covehead Bay, PEI - and is just minutes from north shore National Park beaches.
In the heart of the "Beaches" tourism area, this mature, well-maintained PEI golf course has been in play since 1970. Designed by Robbie Robinson, it has a definite "links" feel that offers all golfers a true test of skill while still providing genuine enjoyment.
In 1961, a group of individuals formed the Stanhope Beach Development Association (SBDA) with the purpose of promoting tourism and developing the area for its residents. After 8 years of talk and planning the dream of having a golf course in the area would turn into reality when in 1969, a group of private individuals united to begin construction. During the spring, summer, and fall months of 1969, the land off of Covehead Bay was molded into what is now a beautiful 18-hole golf course. The Course had it`s grand opening on June 7, 1970, and the first green fee was sold on June 8 for $3. The Stanhope Golf and Country Club was home to 47 members in its first year of operation, a number that has grown by more than 300 hundred in the past 41 years. The Course started out with nine official board members and added another in 1989. These Board Members and their families still show the ongoing commitment to improvement and their love for this very special piece of land.
