The Briars Golf Club Announces 2019 #GrowTheGame Junior Initiative
The historic Briars Golf Club announces free pre-junior golf initiative in an ongoing effort to support the future growth of the game
The Briars Golf Club is dedicated to doing their part to 'grow the game' by introducing golf to future generations. The continued growth of the industry is dependent on introducing kids to the game through fun, entertaining and educational programs. The Briars has developed junior and pre-junior programs targeting kids age 5 - 18 years old with a goal of not only introducing them to the game, but also to keep them engaged throughout their development.
"Our goal with these programs is to be building for the future of golf through a fun, safe and friendly environment." said Colin Galea, Head Professional at The Briars. "We want to introduce kids to golf and continue to work with them as they develop the skills to succeed both on and off the golf course."
The Briars has launched the following programs targeting junior and pre-junior golfers:
Pre-Junior Series (Age 5 - 9)
The pre-junior series is a FREE weekly program offered to kids (aged 5 - 9) in an effort to introduce youngsters to the game we know and love in a fun and educational format.
This program runs from July 10th - August 14th, every Wednesday from 11:45 - 12:45. No equipment is needed. Participants will have access to SNAG Golf equipment, which is designed specifically for kids. Throughout this 6 weeks series, participants will be introduced to various golf concepts and activities in a fun and engaging environment.
Junior Golf Program (Age 10 - 18)
The Briars Junior Program helps educate our youngsters about the game of golf by teaching basic fundamentals of the golf swing and proper golf etiquette as endorsed by Golf Canada and their Future Links program. Participants will learn the importance of being a team player and cooperating with other golfers on and off the golf course.
Junior golf memberships are available for $450 per season and include enrollment in the Junior Program, playing privileges, weekly 1 hour golf clinics (followed by a supervised round of golf).
